Township Auditorium
This Mother’s Day weekend celebrates the gifted women of gospel music as they perform the most popular worship service music today. The concert will take place on Sunday, May 10th, 2026 at the Township Auditorium with showtime set for 4:00 pm and doors opening at 3:00 pm.
We are excited to announce Multi-platinum award winning and nationally celebrated recording artist Marvin Sapp will be the headliner for this year’s celebration. Sapp’s powerful and iconic song “Never Would Have Made It” was the #1 gospel song on the charts for more time than any other single in history. The 2023 inductee into the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame has an anointed ministry and album sales spanning over two decades. Some of his recent singles include “The Best in Me” and the album Chosen Vessel.
The gospel young phenom Sapp is also blessed to be supported by modern gospel pioneer Deitrick Haddon and Avery Sunshine and top rated sensation Melvin Crispell III, the 2023 Sunday Best champion and his latest album No Failure brings forth the best of his naturally inherited gift.

This Mother’s Day join renowned gospel artists Marvin Sapp and Shirley Caesar for service and concert at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, South Carolina on Sunday, the 10th, 2026. Doors will open at 3:00PM | Concert will begin at 4:00PM.
Also performing will be a cast of supporting artists including Deitrick Haddon, Avery Sunshine and Melvin Crispell III. Celebrate the power of mothers everywhere while showcasing the transformative power of faith through worship and original music.

Grammy nominated and awarded artist, Marvin Sapp has won many exciting Awards and released multiple platinum selling albums. He made history in 2023 as the first gospel artist to be inducted into the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame.
Regarded by many as the "First Lady of Gospel Music," Shirley Caesar, brings all of her experience performing Gospel Music to her lovable characters, songs and stories for pre-schoolers and their parents. Shirley will perform some of her most memorable Gospel classics with great passion and devotion. Classics like, "No Charge," "He's Working It Out for You," and a special rendition of "Jesus, I Love Calling Your Name."
She is a 11-time Grammy Award Winner for music industry contributions and 18 Dove Awards. She has recorded and released over 40 albums and most of her projects have crossed-over into the R&B/Pop charts. She was a true legend and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Deitrick Haddon is an award-winning singer, songwriter, record producer and film/TV star. He blends the best of the gospel sound with R&B, hip-hop and rock. Haddon’s most known hits are “He’s Able,” “Well Done” and he’ll even perform his hit single “Sinner’s Prayer.”
A six-time exciting Award winner, Deitrick was nominated for a Grammy for Best modern Soul Album in 2003 for his album Law Of Average. He has starred in two gospel films and appeared in several television programs, including The Gospel and the reality docu-series Preachers of LA on Oxygen.
Soulful Songstress Avery Sunshine brings a full offering of soul, gospel, jazz and R&B for the audience to indulge in. She will be performing her chart-topping hits, “Call My Name”, “Ugly Part of Me”, and “I Got Sunshine.”
Her critically acclaimed release, So Glad to Know You houses some of her most original material to date. The album and record earned a win for Best Progressive R&B Album. Ms. Sunshine also received an ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Award for her work.
Grammy-nominated recording artist and BET’s Sunday Best season 9 winner Melvin Crispell III will minister to the audience through song.
In 2024, He received a Dove Award and was nominated for several Grammys. He has over 17,000,000 views of his songs and videos online.
Township Auditorium is located at 1703 Taylor Street, downtown Columbia, SC.
A historic venue with real character, the Township Auditorium has been providing guests true musical experiences for nearly 70 years. Auditorium seats are general admission and are found on the floor in front of the stage as well as in the orchestra and balcony. Adaptive seating is also available for patrons with disabilities.

Streeet parking and downtown parking garages are located near Township Auditorium. Metered parking is also available on the streets of Columbia. Many parking lots are available throughout Columbia.
